Jenny Rowbury, a 34-year-old resident of England, has been bedridden for nearly two decades due to an extremely rare genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Her body does not produce enough collagen, which leads to extreme joint hypermobility and spinal instability. In her condition, even the slightest movement can lead to serious injury.
Before the disease manifested itself, Jenny led a normal life – she studied and had plans for the future. Everything changed after she turned 19, when her body gradually began to fail her. Soon, even sitting became impossible.

In 2020, Jenny underwent spinal surgery in the hope of improvement, but the results were disappointing. Her mother, Ann, recalls: “Jenny is in constant, unimaginable pain. It is so intense that she can no longer even cry. The doctors are helpless – her case is too rare for there to be any ready-made solutions.”
Despite her enormous limitations, Jenny did not give up. She found solace in poetry, which she writes from her bed. Her collection, Rainbow in My Eyes, has touched thousands of people and brought her dramatic situation to the attention of the public.

Thanks to the support of moved readers and a charity event involving British actors, a significant portion of the £750,000 needed for treatment and rehabilitation in the US was raised.
