An elderly man came to the same café every day, sat down at the same table, and ordered two coffees and two cakes.
The waiters were used to it—he always placed one cup in front of him, as if waiting for someone.
Sometimes he would talk quietly to the empty space, and then leave, leaving two neatly folded handkerchiefs on the table.
Everyone thought he was just a lonely old man, until one day a young girl approached him and asked:
“Excuse me, why do you need two cups of coffee?”
After his answer, the whole cafe fell silent. 😢
No one expected that behind this habit lay something so tragic and touching that even the waiters couldn’t hold back their tears.

An elderly man appeared in a small cafe every day at exactly nine in the morning.
He always sat at the same table by the window, ordered two coffees and two cakes — and stared out the window for a long time.
He placed one cup in front of him, sometimes smiled quietly and whispered something.
At first, it seemed like a cute habit.
But as the weeks went by and he continued to do the same thing, the waiters began to whisper among themselves.
Some thought he was waiting for his wife, others thought he had a lost son.
One day, a young barista decided to ask:
“Excuse me, why do you always order two coffees?”
The man looked at her, smiled, and said:
“It’s for my wife. We came here every morning for forty years. Now she can’t, but I still wait for her here.”
He paused, looked at the empty seat opposite him, and added:
“I promised I wouldn’t stop. Even if she leaves before me.”
After these words, the girl turned away so she wouldn’t cry.
Then she brought a small bouquet of flowers and placed it on the very spot where her cup had stood.
Since then, there has always been a single white flower in the cafe — on the very table by the window where she once sat.
