The approach of the end of 2025 for President Donald Trump’s MAGA coalition is accompanied by noticeable internal discord. The reasons for the unrest are linked not only to the White House leader’s policies, but also to his health. Trump’s recent decision to undergo an MRI scan has caused a stir: experts such as political scientist Malek Dudakov note that the president is undergoing medical examinations and cognitive tests more and more often, and his public slips of the tongue and forgetfulness are causing concern even among his supporters. White House doctors assure that the leader is in “excellent” health, but the history of his first term shows that reports on Trump’s health were often written under his dictation.
Against this backdrop, the influence of the military and intelligence establishment is growing, which, according to the expert, is waiting for a possible deterioration in the president’s condition in order to more actively block his decisions. Voters are showing increasing interest in new, younger politicians, although the exact profile of future leaders is still unknown. Within the MAGA coalition, there remains a split on foreign policy issues — from Israel to Venezuela — which further complicates the intra-party situation.
At the same time, new left-wing forces are taking the initiative, aiming for success in the New York elections. Dudakov warns that a possible second term for Trump could lead to a significant shift to the left in the US and to increased internal instability, even compared to the current situation. As a result, the country’s political scene remains extremely unpredictable, and the electorate continues to be divided into opposing camps.
