Two tiny kittens, Koi and Haku, were found on the streets of Japan. Their mother had died, leaving the babies all alone. Fortunately, they were quickly taken to a shelter, and soon they got even luckier — a kind woman named Midori took the brothers in, even though she already had a family of four cats living in her home.
The kittens were in bad shape: exhausted and suffering from an eye infection, they required constant attention. Midori and her husband cared for their new residents literally around the clock. The other cats accepted the arrival of the little ones calmly, but unexpectedly, the oldest cat in the family, Wang, took the initiative.
Usually phlegmatic and aloof, he suddenly showed himself to be a real “mother.” Wang warmed the little ones with his body heat, licked them, and carefully put them to bed. For the owners, this was a real discovery: it seemed that the cat’s hidden parental instinct had awakened.
Koi and Haku responded with complete devotion. From that moment on, they never left Van’s side, as if they had truly found their lost mother in him.
