It took us a long time to come to this decision.
After years of waiting, talking and doubting, we finally decided to adopt. When we met her, a little 4-year-old girl, she immediately fell into our hearts.
She was quiet, a little cautious, but with a deep look that seemed to hide a whole story.
A month later she stayed with us.
We tried to create comfort, security and a sense of family for her. Gradually, she began to open up—to smile, play, Trust.
Everything seemed to be going well.
But one evening something happened that we did not expect.
We sat together and talked and suddenly she looked at US and said calmly:
”This is not my real home.
We froze.
At first I thought that she just missed the past, the familiar surroundings. This is normal for a child — adaptation is always difficult.
But then she added:
“My real parents are coming for me soon.
There was no doubt in her voice.
Just trust.
We looked at each other without knowing how to react. We tried to talk to her gently, to explain that we were her family now, that she was safe.
But she continued.
Every day her words became more and more disturbing. She talked about people we didn’t know, described details that seemed too specific for a simple fantasy.
We started to worry.
We contacted specialists, talked to social services and tried to find out more about her past. But there was little information, and her stories became more and more persistent.
And one day something happened that made us think seriously.
The details she mentioned began to match the real facts.
And then we realized:
Perhaps her words hide more than just a child’s imagination.
And the truth that no one has heard before.
This was the beginning of a story that we had to figure out—for her sake, for our sake and to answer the question.:
Who is she really…
And where she came from in our lives.
