One Russian woman noticed a huge hole near her house, from which a rabbit ran out. According to her, the animal disappeared from a farm two miles from the village and apparently dug a shelter for itself near her house. The woman began to feed the rabbit, and he quickly got used to her care and began to approach trustingly for food.

One cold day, she saw a large dog near the hole and was afraid for the fate of the rabbit, but when she got closer, she discovered that the dog and the rabbit were hiding in the same hole. Looking inside, the woman found small puppies there. She began to feed both the rabbit and the puppies, but soon noticed that the dog had disappeared — later it turned out that she had been shot.

After the tragedy, the rabbit took care of the puppies: he did not let them out of the hole, protected them from curious cats, warmed them in the cold and did not let them die. The unusual maternal behavior of the rabbit saved the puppies in harsh conditions and shocked the woman who watched this touching story.
