Recently, meerkats gave birth to offspring at the Inokashira Zoo in Musashino, Tokyo. The little animals have grown a little and have now begun to venture out of their burrows to explore the world around them. A photographer going by the nickname mamekoro51 was one of the first to capture these cute creatures on camera, and his photos quickly won the hearts of viewers. These adorable meerkats are sure to melt anyone’s heart!

Meerkats are distant relatives of mongooses, living in South Africa, including the Kalahari and Namib deserts. These pack animals live in families and care for their offspring together. Any adult is ready to defend the cubs of the entire group at the slightest threat, although most often meerkats remain in safe deep burrows, skillfully dug to protect them from predators.

One cub in particular caught the photographer’s attention — the future leader, the alpha of the pack. In the first weeks after birth, meerkats rarely leave their burrows, as it is extremely risky for them. This little daredevil was shy at first, but gradually gained courage and dared to come out. What a hero, a true explorer from childhood!
