“I found my daughter’s drawing… and what she drew there turned my life upside down.”

👩‍👧 My seven-year-old daughter brought home a drawing from school.
It was a typical child’s drawing—a house, the sun, the three of us.

“Who’s this?” I asked, pointing to the man next to us.
She smiled: “Mom, that’s Dad. Just don’t tell him, he doesn’t know…”

The piece of paper trembled in my hands. I looked at the faces in the drawing and realized that something was very wrong here.

I didn’t know what to say, so I just clutched the piece of paper tighter.
“What do you mean, ‘dad’? You only have one dad,” I said cautiously.

My daughter looked at me and added:
“Well, the one on the phone.”

My heart sank.
It turned out that a few weeks ago, she had accidentally seen an old photo from the time when I was dating someone else before I got married. For some reason, the photo had been saved in the gallery, and my daughter decided that this man was her “second dad.”

She drew us all together because, in her childish imagination, “that’s how it should be.”

I hugged her close and realized that sometimes a simple child’s fantasy can shake us more than any news.
