Five years ago, my life changed forever when I became a mother for the first time. My daughter was born during one of the most difficult periods of my life, when I was still trying to come to my senses after breaking up with my ex-partner.
He assured me that he would be there for us, that he loved us and that nothing would change. But after the baby was born, everything turned out to be completely different.
It all started small: he missed important meetings, was late for dates and forgot what he promised. I endured and tried my best to be strong.
Over time, his disappearances became more frequent. He stopped responding to messages, avoided meetings and eventually just disappeared from our lives. I was left alone and raised a child without help and support.
Over the years, I have learned to live anew. My daughter has become the center of my world, a source of joy and strength. Despite the difficulties, I did not complain-because every laugh and every small step was worth all the effort.
It’s been five years.
I was already beginning to think that the past would be in the past, when one day I received a strange message from a strange man. He began the conversation casually, as if he had known me for a long time.
But the longer we corresponded, the stranger his words became. He talked about childhood, about school events, about those times when I still met my ex-partner.
And then he wrote a phrase that made my heart skip a beat.:
– I was with your ex then … and I know the truth about what happened at that time.
I did not understand what he meant, but my gut told me that this was not an ordinary conversation.
When I agreed to meet him at a cafe, he showed me old letters and messages with names, dates and signatures on them… which clearly proved that my ex was already married a few months before we broke up.
This meant that he deliberately misleads me.
He knew about his other family, but he hid it when he started a relationship with me.
I was shocked not only by the betrayal, but also by how long he was able to continue this lie.
I looked at my daughter sitting next to me and realized that the past might have been wrong, but my love for her was real.
Sometimes people who should have been there are not as they seemed.
But they are the ones who stay with us no matter what makes us stronger.
