Little kitty Laila fell into the caring hands of volunteers in Los Angeles at just three weeks old: she and her siblings were picked up from the street and sent for overexposure. While the other kittens quickly found new homes, tricolor Laila was still waiting for a family. Fate decided otherwise when a shepherd puppy named Koda arrived at the house a few months later — he was almost the same size as the kitty.

The first meeting took place calmly and naturally: the pets sniffed each other, exchanged gentle bites and immediately became friends. The owners were surprised at how strongly the puppy became attached to Laila — he followed her everywhere, played and fell asleep next to her, and the kitty accepts him as her younger brother, licks and takes care of him.

Over time, Koda grew up and became noticeably larger, but this did not prevent their friendship. Laila knows how to cheer him up with just a glance, and the puppy responds with unbridled joy.: They play, hug, and don’t leave each other for a minute. The sight of this couple convinced the owners that Laila did not need to look for a new home — she was already at home and happy.

Almost a year has passed, and the family home can no longer be imagined without this incredible two. Their story is another reminder that friendship between animals can be as warm and devoted as it is between humans.
