Copper is a two—year-old dog who has an extremely rare congenital spinal disorder: he practically has no neck. Because of this, the Copper’s head seems to fit closely to the body, it is difficult for him to turn his head, but he can still look straight ahead and behave like an ordinary dog.

Movement is not easy for Copper — it is more difficult for him to walk on flat surfaces and keep his balance. However, apart from these physical limitations, the dog is quite ordinary in nature: friendly, playful and loves people’s attention. His smile conquers many, and this is probably what attracted the future owners to the shelter.

When Copper was brought to the orphanage, he was in a deplorable condition, and few believed in his chances of recovery. The shelter staff did not give up: they treated him and helped him adapt to a life with body peculiarities. Over time, Copper became a prominent, positive figure who attracts the gaze and arouses sympathy from passersby.

Today, the dog lives in a loving family and, despite physical difficulties, enjoys life. His story is a reminder that external differences do not deprive you of the ability to be happy and loved.
