The house where time stood still: what Marilyn Monroe’s villa, where she spent her last days, looks like

Marilyn Monroe loved change and moved from place to place throughout her life, changing homes as easily as she changed outfits. And yet, the legendary blonde owned only one piece of real estate — a villa in sunny California, which became a special and, in many ways, fateful place for her.

The house was purchased in 1961 on the advice of her psychologist, who convinced the actress to “put down roots” and find a sense of stability. She paid $75,000 for this luxurious residence. The single-story colonial-style building was spacious, cozy, and full of light: 240 square meters, three bedrooms, four bathrooms, two living rooms, a large kitchen, and even a game room.

Orange trees grew in the garden, and there was an outdoor swimming pool in the courtyard — a place where Monroe could feel at peace, at least for a little while. The house subsequently changed hands several times among celebrities, and today it belongs to a devoted fan of the actress, who paid about $7 million for it.

It was within these walls that the life of Hollywood’s most talked-about and mysterious star came to an end. Marilyn Monroe passed away here at the age of just 36, forever linking her name to this house, which became not only her refuge but also the last page of her life.
